The replica market for Longines watches is extremely fragmented, with prices ranging from a few hundred to two or three thousand. Early on, there were double-date Longines replicas fitted with ETA2836 movements, occasionally released by some established factories.
I rarely write in-depth about Longines replicas personally. For basic models, I believe anything priced above two thousand offers poor value for money. A good-condition pre-owned genuine piece costs around six to seven thousand, while a brand-new domestic retail version runs about ten thousand. Even the most convincing replica has little justification for purchase.Older factories such as KZ and LG produced watches using identical cases under different brand names. Their inflated price tags mean I cannot recommend those models at all.

However, today we’re looking at this VS single-date Master Collection priced under 2,000, and I think it’s worth checking out. This is the new 40mm model and does not adopt the generic case of the older 38.5mm version. Many reputable factories on the market such as KZ and KY share identical case shells, merely rebranding to make profits. By contrast, this VS (XF) model was developed based on the genuine new 40mm watch. After all, the 38.5mm size feels somewhat outdated for buyers who prefer larger timepieces nowadays.

It still uses the Seagull 2892 movement. Even with the lower price point, it was not switched to the thicker movements from the 28 series. The mounting of the central rotor has been revised to match the genuine style.Factory-style engravings are added directly on the movement plate. Older Master Collection 2892 replicas used to come without these markings. While the engravings have no impact on movement performance, they are a nice detail for enthusiasts. Having them brings extra peace of mind whether you keep the watch for personal use or give it as a gift.

The stamped engravings are well executed, closely resembling genuine factory markings. With these engravings, some sellers will likely pass this watch off as one fitted with an original Swiss movement to trick buyers, so everyone needs to stay alert.
For Longines replica watches, especially single-date variants, there is a 99% chance they do not house authentic Swiss movements. ETA2892 prices have surged, and brand-new units are nearly unavailable. Any that can be found are likely used dismantled movements. Many movement vendors prefer to fit decent-condition ETA2892 calibres into higher-end watches for sale. Custom 2892 movements for luxury brands (with branded shock absorbers) are never allocated for Longines replicas.
While brand-new SW300 Swiss movements deliver comparable performance, they require re-engraving for use in Longines. Therefore, fitting genuine Swiss movements such as ETA2892 or SW300 into Longines replicas is practically unfeasible, and any such claim is mostly deceptive.
There is another scenario with Swiss movements: so-called “original single” dealers who market watches with matching codes as genuine. However, these pieces sell for around five thousand. At that price, you may as well buy one from an authorized dealer. Although these “original single” watches have good movements, their dials are often inferior to those from mainstream replica factories. We hardly recommend this type of product anymore, as they come with plenty of marketing gimmicks.

There is not much to comment on regarding the dial. For entry-level Longines models, the output from major factories was quite similar years ago, so further discussion would be redundant. I am highlighting this watch for a few simple reasons: great value for money, available at the price of 1XXX. Produced by VS (XF) Factory, all visible details are well finished.
It is far cheaper than specialists like KZ and KY that focus on Longines replicas, yet I cannot spot any quality difference. It is the new 40mm version, definitely worth recommending.
